Friday Night

Monster Jam fans of all ages came together in the Hoosier State tonight in the Ford Center in downtown Evansville! Indiana was electric, and bubbling with anticipation as they waited for the six Monster Jam Trucks and Drivers to take the floor to battle it out, trying to take home one of the coveted Monster Jam Trophies! When the lights turned green and the octane flowed, they were not disappointed as the competition was intense! You could cut the air with a knife as six of the best Monster Jam Drivers went head to head in three different competitions, wheelie, racing, and freestyle!

The night began with a hard-hitting wheelie competition. The drivers controlled their trucks with the precision of a surgeon as they smashed the gas and popped up and over the crush cars for the Monster Jam Fans, and stopped before they got to the wall of the Ford Center. Truck after truck showed amazing skill, putting on a show second to none to the fans. The competition was tight through the first five Monster Jam Trucks with scores in the middle teens. That wouldn't last all night as David Smith in King Krunch would destroy the competition with a hard hitting wheelie that sent the front end of his Monster Jam Truck high into the air, and high above the other competitors as well! When he finally came back down to earth, the judges scored him a well deserved 23 points to take the lead, and win the Monster Jam Wheelie Competition. Second went to Mechanical Mischief (17), and third to Nitro Hornet (16).

Next the fans were treated to Monster Jam Racing. The road to World Finals 15 in Las Vegas, sponsored by NGK Spark Plugs was not going to be one paved of gold for any of the Monster Jam Drivers! Round one racing was close, all three races were photo finishes, but in the end three trucks would advance to the semi finals, with one advancing as the fast looser to complete the racing bracket. Spike would beat Mechanical Mischief, King Krunch would win over Quadzilla, and Nitro Hornet would pass by Mega Byte to advance to the Semi Finals. Quadzilla would also return in the semi finals as the fast looser.

In the Monster Jam Semi Finals Racing Round, Spike would beat Quadzilla, and Nitro Hornet would surpass King Krunch, and go on to the Monster Jam Championship Race! In the end however it was Darron Basl, the driver of Nitro Hornet who would take the Monster Jam Checkered Flag to win.

To round out the show at the Ford Center in Evansville, a pounding and high flying Fox Sports Monster Jam Freestyle would really put the fans on their feet. All the Monster Jam drivers put the pedal to the metal, and put on a show that was worthy of saying it was “as BIG as it gets!” The scoring for freestyle started with a 10 put up by Mega Byte, and then each Monster Jam Driver would come out and put up bigger and bigger points. The culmination of which was David Smith and King Krunch airing out his truck a couple times for the fans! The air was worthy of wings, as David impressed the crowd with some high flying aerobatics! It would certainly be enough to impress the Monster Jam Judges, and walk way with another trophy for the evening, winning freestyle with 22 points.

It was a great kick off to the weekend here in Evansville! Fans left with smiles on their faces, and probably a little hoarse from the screaming, however they left totally satisfied and knowing why Monster Jam is truly “as BIG as it gets!”

Saturday Afternoon

Monster Jam Fans came from as far away as Northern Georgia to see the Monster Jam action in Evansville this afternoon! They would not be disappointed either as the Monster Jam drivers seemed to have the competition floor dialed in. They all seemed to know right where to drive to get the maximum performance out of their Monster Jam Trucks!

We started the afternoon off with Monster Jam Wheelies. Each Monster Jam driver seemed to want to show off just a little more as the last, as we saw the scores on the Monster Jam Media Board climb a little higher as each Monster Jam truck finished its run. In the end one it was teammates David Smith in King Krunch, and Darron Basl in Nitro Hornet with the highest scores. David Smith and King Krunch just had a little bit more in his arsenal of wheelie tricks, as he surpassed Darron Basl and Nitro Hornet (19) to win Monster Jam Wheelies with 22 points.

Monster Jam Racing was also fast and furious this afternoon as we saw all the Monster Jam Trucks run tire to tire down the straight line racing course. In the first round Nitro Hornet would beat Quadzilla, Mega Byte would beat Mechanical Mischief, and King Krunch would beat Spike, all to advance to the Monster Jam Semi Finals. Mechanical Mischief would also advance as the fast loser to the Monster Jam Semi Finals.

The Semi Finals of Monster Jam Racing matched up with Nitro Hornet racing Mechanical Mischief, and Nitro Hornet advancing. Then King Krunch would take on Mega Byte, with King Krunch moving on to the Monster Jam Championship Race. The final race of the afternoon would pair teammates Nitro Hornet, and King Krunch against each other, and the young Daron Basl would scream past his boss and teammate David Smith, and King Krunch, to win the Monster Jam Championship Race!

The moment many Monster Jam fans wanted to see was the beginning of the Fox Sports Monster Jam Freestyle! The night kicked off with a huge jump off the center ramp from Mega Byte and Brad Allen! Mega Byte impressed the crowd with a jump that seemed to send the truck into the rafters at the Ford Center, and only to be followed up with a bounce that was worthy of any trampoline! Brad kept all four wheels on the dirt and managed to put up a respectable 14 points, setting the stage for the Fox Sports Monster Jam Freestyle! The other Monster Jam Drivers would come out and try to beat out the score of 14, but would be unsuccessful until once again teammates David Smith, and Daron Basl, from King Krunch and Nitro Hornet would come out and tear the place apart! Daron went first scoring an incredible 21! He challenged his friend David Smith to do better as the Monster Jam Fans screamed uncontrollably as King Krunch was introduced. At the end of regulation, King Krunch could not beat Nitro Hornets score, only putting 20 points on the board. It would once again be Daron Basl in the hot seat, and collecting the Freestyle Trophy, and a double down win here in Indiana!

The fans in Evansville were loud and proud and not afraid to cheer on their favorite drivers. The nail biting conclusion to the show with a head to head Fox Sports Freestyle between teammates, sent them home with a smile on their faces! All the drivers are already talking about coming back for 2015!!! Monster Jam in Evansville is “as BIG as it gets!”

Saturday Night

Monster Jam in Evansville, Indiana was a huge success as the final show of 2014 came to a close on a dreary and rainy Saturday evening. The weather did not slow the fans from filling the seats in the Ford Center, as thousands of fans piled in to watch a show that would describe why Monster Jam “is as BIG as it gets!”

We started the evening with the Monster Jam Wheelie Competition. Six of the best names in Monster Jam were on hand with trucks like King Krush, Nitro Hornet, Mechanical Mischief, Spike, Mega Byte, and the hometown boy Quadzilla. It was an impressive display of horsepower as the Monster Jam Trucks hurled themselves up and into the air for the screaming fans. Throughout the competition each Monster Jam Driver showed the fans exactly how powerful those Monster Jam Trucks were! In the end though it was the fan favorite King Krush who would literally “krush” the competition and put up 25 points on the score board to win.

Casey’s General Store Monster Jam Racing Round one was up next! The first pairing was Mechanical Mischief and Mega Byte, then Nitro Hornet would take on Spike, and finally King Krunch would race Quadzilla.

Advancing to the Monster Jam Racing Semi Finals were Mega Byte who would race Spike (Fast Loser), then Nitro Hornet would race Quadzilla.

All the races leading up the Monster Jam Championship Race would be determined by a photo finish! The fans were on the edges of their seat, as Nitro Hornet and King Krunch would battle it out for the checkered flag! When it was all over Nitro Hornet would take the win in the Monster Jam Racing! This win would also set him up for a possible second double down win of the weekend!

The culmination of the show was the Fox Sports One Freestyle! The fans had been treated to a hard-hitting wheelie competition, and racing that was incredibly fast, and close. The drivers all promised they were going to tear the track apart in freestyle, and that they did!!!

The Monster Jam Drivers hit all the obstacles as hard as they could, showing fans what a freestyle that is “as BIG as it gets” looks like! Mega Byte and King Krunch would both catch huge air off the center ramp that was set up for Freestyle Motor Cross earlier in the show, but the fan favorite Nitro Hornet driven by Daron Basl, would once again pull out a win with 19 points just edging out his teammate, David Smith and King Krunch who would score an 18!

Saturday night was full of Big Monster Jam Trucks, Big Fun, and Big Air, and the fans would walk out of the Ford Center charged up with octane, and eager to return to see the high flying action when Monster Jam returns in January of 2015!
