Saturday 7 P.M.

(Calgary, AB) For the second time in history and the second year in a row, the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour roared into Calgary Stampede Grandstands boasting some of the greatest superstars in the sport. Following a huge Pit Party on Saturday afternoon, Calgary Monster Jam fans were ready to witness what would prove to be a stellar event.

The evening started with the Wheelie Competition. Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina native Randy Brown in Grave Digger simply stole the show with a pair of awesome Sky Wheelies. His score of 24 points was good enough to capture the Wheelie Competition victory. Second place went to Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger with a score of 22 points, while David Smith in King Krunch earned third spot and a score of 18. Daron Basl in Nitro Hornet managed 17 points, while Mirror Image Racing twins Tyler (Double Trouble) and Travis Groth (The Captain) finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively. World Champions Adam Anderson in Grave Digger The Legend and Cam McQueen in Northern Nightmare both experienced transmission troubles and were unable to compete in the Wheelie Competition.

Monster Jam Racing Round One paired Son-uva Digger against King Krunch, with Son-uva Digger taking the first racing win of the night on the fantastic Stampede-Style oval course. Grave Digger edged out The Captain, and Nitro Hornet stung Double trouble. At this point, Grave Digger The Legend and Northern Nightmare were still unable to compete.

The Captain returned to the Monster Jam Racing Semi-Final as Fast Loser, but was unable to defeat a charging Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger. The other Semi Final race saw Grave Digger swat Nitro Hornet.

For the twenty-third time in 2013, North Carolina driver Randy Brown in Grave Digger found himself in the UTI Championship Racing Round. There is no doubt that a feat of this magnitude involves an amazing amount of consistency and concentration, and Brown knew he would have to be sharp as he faced his boss’s son. Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger would prove to be just as focused as Brown, however, as both trucks approached the starting line. When the lights turned green, both trucks took off like rockets and remained close around the Stampede Style oval. At the finish line, it was remarkably close, and Monster Jam Officials were required to go to a video replay. The winner? Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger.

Maple Leaf Monster Jam Freestyle was an amazing element that saw each and every driver give the fans what they paid to see.

The drivers earned the following Freestyle scores:

Son-uva Digger 26
Northern Nightmare 25
GD The Legend 25
Grave Digger 24
King Krunch 23
Nitro Hornet 20
The Captain 18
Double Trouble DNS

Without a doubt, Freestyle winner Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger was ecstatic with his Double Down performance here in Calgary tonight. He invited all the excited fans to the World Finals XV in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 20-22nd, 2014. There is no doubt that many Calgarians will be taking that trip.

In other racing action, Team Calgary defeated Team Edmonton in Ralph’s Motorsports Quad Wars. In Street Warriors competition, female competitor Andrea Siljer took top honors with a blazing fast time of 21.16 seconds

We invite you to join us tomorrow morning at 11:30 A.M. for the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Pit Party. Following that, we will roll into our final event of the weekend at 2:00 P.M. sharp.

Don’t miss a moment of the action on Sunday as the stars of Monster Jam return yet again for what promises to be another amazing event!

Sunday 2 P.M.

(Calgary, AB) The second and final Maple Leaf Monster Jam of the weekend got underway Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. sharp. With all eight Monster Jam Trucks returning to the Calgary Stampede Grounds, the day proved to be action-filled and very unpredictable.

Adam Anderson in Grave Digger The Legend ensured his truck was game ready for Sunday, and he verified that by taking the Wheelie Competition win with a score of 25 points. Son-uva Digger finished a close second at 24 points, while Double Trouble ended up in the top three with a 23 point effort. The Captain scored 22 points, Nitro Hornet 20, Northern Nightmare 19, and King Krunch 17. Grave Digger rounded out scoring with 16 points after driver Randy Brown got sideways over the crush cars, resulting in a mild rollover.

Monster Jam Racing Round One saw 2013 Young Guns Semi Finalist Daron Basl in Nitro Hornet take out Grave Digger. Son-uva Digger defeated Double Trouble, while Grave Digger The Legend drove past King Krunch. The final Round One race saw The Captain score the win over Northern Nightmare.

Nitro Hornet wasted no time defeating The Captain in the Monster Jam Racing Semi Final. In the other Semi, Son-uva Digger was unable to get the job done over Grave Digger the Legend in a classic Anderson brothers battle.

The UTI Championship Round produced a finish too close to call immediately. Nitro Hornet and Grave Digger The Legend tore up the Stampede-Style course like never before. They were equal at the halfway point of the race, and that continued right to the finish line. The winner, after much deliberation, was Grave Digger The Legend.

Maple Leaf Monster Jam Freestyle is all about adrenalin and energy, and there was not a driver in the facility today that lacked an ounce of either. Saturday Night’s Double Down winner Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger had a great run going, but succumbed early to a broken left rear sway bar. This left the door open for the other competitors, who gladly took a shot at the title. There is no question that the highlight of the day was Randy Brown’s dramatic save in Grave Digger. Brown practically had his door paint touching the dirt when he swung the steering wheel and opened the throttle. This resulted in Grave Digger returning to all four wheels. This maneuver alone was plenty good enough to take the Freestyle victory for Grave Digger, who was granted 28 points for his efforts. Cam McQueen in Northern Nightmare also had a great run, but ended up on his roof with 30 seconds remaining on the clock. This crash effectively ended McQueen’s chances for a Freestyle victory.

The drivers earned the following Freestyle scores:

Grave Digger 28
GD The Legend 24
Northern Nightmare 21
King Krunch 20
The Captain 18
Nitro Hornet 17
Double Trouble 17
Son -uva Digger 13

In other motor sports action, female driver Andrea Silijer again took top spot in the Street Warriors division. Her final time of 21.28 seconds would prove plenty good enough to claim the trophy. And in Ralph’s Motorsports Quad Wars, Team Calgary took home both the money and the bragging rights.

The Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour now takes a bit of a break before heading to Rogers Centre in Toronto in January 2014. At this time, we would like to take a moment to sincerely thank all of our wonderful Canadian fans for a wildly successful 2013 season.

Canadian fans have truly embraced the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour over the past few years and have molded it into something that is really truly Canadian.

We could not be more proud of the Maple Leaf Monster Jam Tour here in Canada, and we can’t wait for a bigger and better 2014 season.

Thanks again Canada!
