Friday Night

The Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Drivers reached in and pulled out their inner 12 year old to play in the mud, as afternoon Florida showers soaked the Bubba Raceway Park before tonight’s show. Heavy rains turned what is usually a dirt track, into a mud track. That however did not discourage the fans from coming out and filling the grandstands to see their favorite Monster Jam Truck and Drivers compete in four mudslinging competitions. The weather cleared just in time for the fans to enjoy a great show filled with slips and slides, and some high flying action as well! We kicked the night off with the Wheelie competition. Each driver took the track and was allowed to hit 3 obstacles and produce the best wheelies they could. The track conditions were a factor, however the Monster Jam Drivers showed why they are the best in the world, popping the front end of those 10,000 pound Monster Jam trucks up in the air. Seven trucks took to the track and when all the mud settled, Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger came out on top with a score of 29!

At the conclusion of wheelies, we went to our Monster Jam Racing Bracket. Earlier in the night the drivers drew numbers to find out where they would start. With a seven truck field the driver who pulled number one, which was Scott Hartsock and Gunslinger, would advance automatically with a bye run to round two racing to even up the brackets.  We saw great racing and some close finishes with Frank Krmel edging out some fan favorites including Monster Mutt Dalmatian, and the newest Monster Jam Truck, Sean Duhon and Zombie to take the racing trophy. Frank brought the peoples truck right up to the grandstand wall to a round of thunderous applause, showing exactly why it is in fact the people’s truck!!!

The third of tonight’s competition was one of the fan favorites, the Monster Jam Donut competition. For this event the drivers embraced the slippery track conditions caused by the earlier rain, and used the slippery mud to their advantage. Each driver turned and turned till they were dizzy, with the exception of Grave Digger, who had to sit the competition out because of a mechanical problem. When it was all said and done, the high speed turns of Candice Jolly and the Monster Mutt Dalmatian, would be the winner with a nearly perfect score of 29!

Finally the fan favorite Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Freestyle was set and ready to go. Each of the drivers came out to an even sloppier track, as the donuts and wheelies from earlier had really taken its toll. The drivers drove hard, with a couple trucks having mechanical issues. Scott Hart sock and Gunslinger was having problems all evening long with his truck shutting off. Unfortunately for him, freestyle was no exception with his truck stopping mid freestyle. He wasn't the only team having difficulties on the track, Rob French and Scorpion also had some issues with the rear end of the truck, causing him to back up into the pits immediately following his regulation run. Just in time for the end of the show, the crew of Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger were able to replace an oil pump that had failed on them earlier causing them to miss donuts. The bells of Grave Digger tolled, and the fans went wild when they saw the black and green wrecking machine roll out of the pits and tear up the track for his freestyle run! The effort was not lost on the judges either, as Jon drove Digger right into the top spot of 27, winning the Monster Jam Freestyle!

Saturday Afternoon

The Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam was a huge hit with fans despite the second day of rain here in Central Florida. The fans turned out in huge numbers to see seven of the best Monster Jam Teams in the world compete for the second day in a row. The track was muddy for the second day in a row, with early morning rain making conditions even sloppier than on Friday. Despite the sloppy muck on the track, the drivers went out and drove hard and put on an octane filled show for the fans! The competition was close all afternoon long. We started the events this afternoon with the Monster Jam Wheelie Competition. Only six of the seven trucks competed as Scorpion left the field early with mechanical problems. The competition was close but Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger surpassed Monster Mutt Dalmatian and Advance Auto Parts Grinder, both who scored 22, and finished with a total score of 27.

After the exciting Monster Jam Wheelie competition, we moved on to Monster Jam Racing. Again technical difficulties kept all of the trucks from competing as Scorpion was not able to repair the mechanical issues from earlier in the show.  Sean Duhon and Zombie would return to replace Scorpion as the fast looser, but it still wasn't enough to make it to the championship Race. We screamed through the racing brackets and the Advance Auto Parts Grinder, and Grave Digger were the two trucks that made it to the UTI Championship Race. For the second day in a row, Frank Krmel and the Advance Auto Parts Grinder would come out victorious for racing! One thing is for certain, the fans saw some great racing.

After two awesome competitions the fans were ready for more, and the drivers were ready to give it to them. We returned from intermission to the fan favorite donut competition.  Candice Jolly and Monster Mutt Dalmatian tried to defend her win from Friday nights show, but Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger had other ideas. Candice came out and put on a very good show for the fans and the judges noticed, scoring her a 28! Jon Zimmer didn't pay much attention to that as he came out in the Chevy panel van from Kill Devil Hills, NC and took Grave Digger to its second victory of the night scoring a perfect 30.

Finally we finished up the evening with the Advance Auto Parts Freestyle. Scorpion still in the pits with mechanical problems was joined by the Advance Auto Parts Grinder. Neither truck was able to compete. That didn't stop the other teams from coming out and showing the fans just how it’s done, Monster Jam Style. Once again the competition came down to Monster Mutt Dalmatian and Grave Digger. Candice Jolly and her puppy put up a respectable score of 23 in the Monster Jam Freestyle, however once again Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger would edge her out to take home the third trophy of the afternoon winning freestyle as well.

Saturday Night

Ocala Florida didn't quite dry out for the third event of the weekend here at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam at Bubba Raceway Park! Rain earlier in the day, and the day prior had the track muddy and slick right from the start tonight as all of the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Drivers took the track for the evening competition! The first event of the evening was the McDonalds Monster Jam Wheelie Competition. Seven Monster Jam Drivers entered the competition floor one at a time, and performed the delicate dance in the mud to keep the front end of their respective Monster Jam Truck in the air and racing across the track. One by one they all tried to keep a wheelie going as the tires struggled to keep any kind of grip on the wet and slippery track. Some more successful than others, with high marks from the judges for Sean Duhon and Zombie with 20, Frank Krmel and Grinder with 21, Candice Jolly and Monster Mutt Dalmatian with 24. None of those spectacular performances could keep Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger from taking home the wheelie win with a total score of 24.

We moved through the damp and cool evening air to Monster Jam Racing, where despite the cooler temperatures, the crowd heated up as they yelled and screamed for their favorite Monster Jam Truck to win in each round of racing. Scorpion, who would later have more mechanical issues that had already been an issue earlier in the day, once again drew the bye round in round one of racing. Grave Digger and Zimmer would race ahead of Zombie and Duhon in round one, Razin Kane would beat MM Dalmatian, and the AAP Grinder soared past Scott Hartsock and Gunslinger who was a fan favorite being from just 20 miles away in Bushnell Florida. Those drivers would move on to the semi- final races, and Grave Digger and AAP Grinder would come out on top, and move to the UTI Championship race. When the green light flashed both of the drivers, Krmel in Grinder and Zimmer in Grave Digger, would smash their pedals to the floor and show the fans a spectacular finish with the AAP Grinder winning. Zimmer and Digger would spin out in the mud in the turn on the racetrack costing him what could have been another win for the weekend.

The track remained slippery, and this time worked in the driver’s advantage as we moved into the Monster Jam Donut competition!! Two of the Monster Jam trucks did not compete because of mechanical issues, Razin Kane and Scorpion. The other five trucks came out in front of the capacity crowd and tried to spin around like a kid on a tilt a whirl. It was a close finish as Duhon and Zombie put up a 23, Jolly in Monster Mutt Dalmatian would score a 21, and once again Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger would come in at the end and score an impressive 26 to take a second trophy for the night!

Finally, the fans were electrified when it came to Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Freestyle! Rob French and Scorpion were able to get the Monster Jam Truck repaired and running for freestyle! However the weather and track conditions took its toll on a couple of other Monster Jam Trucks, JR McNeal and Razin Cane were not able to compete because of an engine issue and Scott Hartsock and Gunslinger also out due to mechanical failures. Again the freestyle was close with fantastic performances from all the Monster Jam Drivers, a close three way competitions developed as Krmel and Grinder put up a 22 on his run. Following that Candice Jolly and MM Dalmatian came out and one upped Krmel putting on a great show and being scored 26 by the judges. With a score to beat of 26, Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger once again flew out onto the track and ran the truck as hard as he could for a now standing arena of Monster Jam Fans! After a little bonus freestyle for the fans, the judges scored the run by Digger, and Zimmer scored a total of 28 points, taking home his third trophy of the night!

Sunday Afternoon

Sunday was certainly a fun day at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala Florida, as Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Summer Heat concluded its weekend in Central Florida. We finally say a day without rain at Bubba Raceway Park, however the track was still wet and slippery from the previous two days of rain. The carnage continued as six Monster Jam Trucks and drivers entered the muddy arena to do battle once again in four Monster Jam Competitions. The first was the Monster Jam Wheelie Competition. In the previous three shows in Ocala, we started off with seven trucks, unfortunately for Rob French and Scorpion, mechanical issues related to the mud and rain prevented him from competing in any of the days competitions. The fans got a great show from six Monster Jam Drivers who spent the weekend playing in the mud!  Scott Hartsock and Gunslinger roared out to kick off the wheelie competition putting up 15 points on the score board. It didn't take long to surpass that as Razin Kane put up 17, Grinder a 21, and Zombie a 22. All those Monster Jam Trucks put on great shows for the fans, however for the third time in as many days, the real competition was between Candice Jolly and Monster Mutt Dalmatian and Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger. Jolly would hit the floor first in her white and black puppy putting up a 26, and then Zimmer would challenge in Digger shortly afterwards with a score of 25, not enough to knock the black and white puppy of Jolly out of the hot seat!

Metro PCS Monster Jam Racing round one would follow the wheelie competition. A six truck bracket would mean after round one we would bring back one truck in the semi final round as the fast looser. Round one shaped up like this Zombie vs. Grinder, Drave Digger vs. Razin Kane, and Gunslinger vs. MM Dalmatian. The three that were victorious moved on to the semi finals, which were Grinder, Grave Digger, and Monster Mutt Dalmatian. Sean Duhon and Zombie would come back in the semi finals to race the Advance Auto Parts Grinder again, only to lose to Frank Krmel and Grinder, who hadn't lost a race all weekend. Also moving on was Monster Mutt beating Grave Digger. More of those mechanical issues came into play when Monster Mutt was put on the sixty second clock by the officials to return to racing. While in the pits, Jolly and the Mutt experienced electrical issues which caused them to not be able to fire the Monster Jam Truck in time. When the clock expired, the officials reverted to the runner up in the previous race, which was Zimmer and Grave Digger, and advanced him to the UTI Championship race in place of Monster Mutt Dalmatian. Frank Krmel and the Advance Auto Parts Grinder had not lost in racing at all in Ocala, and as they rounded the turn back towards the start finish line, it was clear he had no intention of losing this one to Grave Digger either. He put his foot on the pedal and The Peoples Truck, Grinder soared over the finish line once again to take his fourth racing championship of the weekend.

Next up, was Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam Donuts. The field of six was excited to once again go out and turn their 10,000 pound Monster Jam trucks into the ground. The first truck out, one of the fan favorites in Ocala, was Zombie. Sean Duhon went out and turned around as fast as he could and set the bar high right from the start with a score to beat of 22.  Similar runs were made by Grinder, Razin Kane, and Monster Mutt Dalmatian, who all scored in the low 20's as well. Two Monster Jam Trucks stood out however, Scott Hartsock in Gunslinger showed his hometown fans that he knew how to turn his truck in circles and put a 23 on the scoreboard! That however wasn't enough as Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger knew how to spin to win, flying around in circles, and given a score by the judges of 26, to take his second trophy of the afternoon!

We finished up the weekend with the Advance Auto Parts Freestyle. The fans were on the edge of their seats, as track had an opportunity to dry out just enough for the Monster Jam Trucks to get a good hold in the wet clay. Mechanical issues were once again a problem as Zombie lost oil pressure just before his performance and had to retire to the pits. Each Monster Jam Driver tried to outdo the other throughout the freestyle with Candice Jolly and Monster Mutt Dalmatian, showing all her Dalmatian Nation Fans how high her dog could fly! Breathtaking jumps from Jolly caused the judges to score her a 23 as her Dalmatian Nation screamed and cheered. Gunslinger and Grinder also had spectacular freestyle performances, both of which also grabbed some air off the crash cars. All four of those performances were shadowed by that of Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger, who showed the biggest air of all. He kicked off his freestyle in spectacular fashion as he popped Digger up and over the center stack of crush cars and propelled himself halfway down the track, in the air! Zimmer continued to push the throttle to the firewall and show fans yet another championship freestyle for the weekend. Jon Zimmer and Grave Digger would win yet again with a final score of 29 points from the judges.
