Saturday 2 PM

Now both of the Mirror Image Race Team members. Tyler and Travis Groth, have Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Wheelie Contest wins. Travis' came here in Portland a year ago, and today it was Tyler's turn. The Tire Factory Racing, Warn Winch entry stood straight up and down on both hits, balancing for a while on the tailgate after hit number 1. The rest of the day belonged to Grave Digger and Pablo Huffaker. Pablo won racing and then was scored 2 points lower than George Balhan and The Mohawk Warrior, but during Georges victory interview, he didn't believe he had honestly won so he gave the trophy to Pablo, who in turn said he wouldn't keep it either, that he was going to give it to the great Monster Jam fans here on Oregon.

It was a clear win in racing but freestyle, maybe not...Travis Groth in Double Trouble, had a run for the ages. Sunday 2 PM

The Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam highlight of the day came from Tony Canedo and Playin For Keeps in freestyle, Tyler Groth driving Double Trouble in the wheelie contest and then the biggest WOW moment of the entire weekend was provided by Travis Groth in Captain USA.
First it was Tyler Groth in Double Trouble. The pacific Northwest native brought the house alive with yet another unbelievable hit in the wheelie contest. His first hit a good one, and then on hit number 2 he romped the loud pedal and brought the truck straight up and down, very high and super long, unfortunately he landed extremely hard on the rear of the truck, tearing up 4-link bars and steering components. The truck had to be lifted off the floor by a bucket loader to the raucous approval from the fans. Next was Tony Canedo in Playin For Keeps. He rocket launched off of the Stockholm stack and when he landed the body, which had some damage from earlier in the weekend, completely EXPLODED. From my original angle it looked as if it was just body damage, but upon further review, Tony had sheared off a spindle and destroyed an axle. Tyler Groth and Double Trouble came back after intermission for freestyle and added to the metal carnage. The left rear was torn up in wheelies and in freestyle Tyler ruined the front right of the truck after some wild antics during his run.
And lastly, it was Travis Groth and one of the most stellar saves of the year. After a full 60 seconds of on the ragged edge running, bigger air than anyone else, a slap wheelie for the ages and then off of the Stockholm stack came “The Save”!! Trav came off of the big stack and came down on the right front with the bedside nearly touching the ground, back on the loud pedal HARD and the truck went to the bedside on the left. Trav stabbed the brake and romped the throttle, and brought the truck to rest on all 4's!!! SPECTACULAR!!!
George Balhan and the Mohawk Warrior raced their way to victory lane for the second time this weekend, winning freestyle on Saturday afternoon and racing on Sunday. Pablo Huffaker and Grave Digger ended up winning freestyle, but Pablo, always a gentleman and a true sportsman, eluded to the fact that he didn't feel that he had won the event, but did say that the real winners are there fans in Portland!
