Friday Night

A hard driving group of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam pilots descended on the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento.

Just take a look at the lineup. High revving ariel acrobat Carl Van Horn, Mr. Wow Donald Epidendio, fan friendly lead foot Danny Rodoni, racing extraordinaire Andrew Peckham. Then add to the mix Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam rookie Tony Canedo, fearless Nicole Johnson, off road guru Pat Gerber, and a kid living his boyhood dream Roger Stidell. Add all of those adjectives together and the end result is Monster Jam mayhem, carnage and edge of your seat entertainment.

Pair after pair, round after round the razor tight finishes in Monster Jam racing were reviewed in super slo motion by the officials before the correct call could be made.

In the UTI Championship Round of Racing, the finish had to be replayed 4 times before the determination could be made that the hot shoe racer Andrew Peckham in Tropical Thunder were going to the Advance Auto Parts victory lane.
The Advance Auto Parts “Service Is Our Best Part” Freestyle Competition was also a tightly fought and hard battle for all of the Monster Jam trucks that were still in action. The incredibly tacky surface was tearing up planaterys and drive axles, taking 2 trucks out of action in racing.

Saturday 7:30 PM

Grave Digger doubled down and the Destroyer dominated the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Wheelie contest.

Roger Stidell, driver, owner/operator and giant FAN of The Destroyer team came away with a victory that was much deserved and more incentive for Rog to run the truck as hard as possible for the tremendous Monster Jam fans in Sacramento and around the nation. Stidell stood the truck on the tail gate both times he attacked the crush car lanes, fulfilling the 3 requirements from the judges, high, vertical and far. Picture perfect, in fact. Good on Ya, Rog!!

Carl Van Horn, driving Grave Digger had a narrow win in racing over Donald Epidendio in Titan. Titan was involved in 3 photo finish races, got the nod on 2 and was just short on the 3rd. During freestyle, CVH and Digger put on a classic run that included high RPM, huge air and in the end, CARNAGE!! After a rocket shot off of the jammer stack, Carl thought he was going to over rotate, so in the air, he shifted the black and green wrecking machine into reverse, anticipating it coming to rest past vertical and he would then be in a position to romp the throttle and bring the truck back to all four wheels. But the best laid plans don't always work. The truck actually landed vertical and tipped to the right, Carl patiently waited for the truck to come to earth, waiting to gag the throttle and up right the truck, but forgetting it was in reverse, when he stomped the loud pedal the truck had no chance of using momentum to carry it back.

Sunday 2 PM

It was all Grave Digger all day. From wheelies, racing and freestyle, Carl Van Horn was on fire. His wheelie attempt was last, so the cars were laid down, but that just made CVH work the truck a little harder. Dynamiting the brakes and then hard on the throttle to get the rebound of the suspension working for him and Digger, Carl went vertical on both hits. In racing he had a hard batgle to beat El Toro Loco and Dan Rodoni, but prevailed, and then in freestyle, CVH left the crowd screaming. Nearly double jumping the racing lanes diagonally across the track and coming to a rest upside down.
