Saturday 7:00pm

Over 50,000 screaming fans were on hand for the stadium kick of off the 2013 Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam here in Detroit. Sixteen Monster Jam trucks were on hand to take the UTI Racing Championship and the Service is our best part Freestyle.

The racing tonight was awesome with some very close and exciting races that lead us to the finals with a classic matchup of Grave Digger taking on rival Maximum Destruction. Neil Elliot was determined to take Max D. not only to a racing championship but also a Double Down. Elliot said in an interview before tonight’s show that after last week frustration with his Monster Jam truck breaking and his crew scrambling to keep it running he wanted to give something back to his crew and that he did. Max D. defeated Grave Digger in a wild finish across the finish line that resulted in a hair raising race. Max D. made it to the finals with wins over Crushstation in round one, the new fan favorite Zombie in round two and Brutus in the semi finals. Grave Digger made his way to the finals with wins over Shock Therapy, Wrecking Crew and Grinder. A special shout out to the newest member to join team Grave Digger Jon Zimmer. Zimmer was impressive in his stadium debut take second not only in racing but also in Freestyle.

Freestyle tonight was off the hook with high flying action right from the start. Wrecking crew was first to go and landed in the hot seat with a score of 19. He was knocked out by Crushstation when Winchenbach aired out the lobster for the lead with a 20. Not every Monster Jam Truck was able to fill the regulation time but they all had their highlights. Shock Therapy was one of the as he hit the double jump right from his pit stall and aired it out only to land and break the left front tire completely off. Grinder also had some sick air only to rebound and side the truck for an early roll over. Grave Digger who went second to last was awesome and took the lead with a 28 only to lose by one point to Max D. who not only had a solid freestyle but also a classic Maximum Destruction save that had the fans on their feet for a standing ovation. Here tonight’s results.
