Friday 7:30pm

On this night in Council Bluffs Iowa the temperatures started at 14 degrees but the action was red hot inside the Mid America Center. Wheelie Competition, Racing and Service is Our Best Part Freestyle was on the card.

Brad Allen in Mega Bite was the first to wheelie setting the bar at 13. Big Kahuna followed with a 14 and Hotsy scoring a 19. The next two scores were even better with Raminator ringing the bell at a 24 and Nitro Hornet with 26. Motor issues kept the 2012 Young Guns Champion Bari Musawwir, piloting Spiderman, sidelined for this competition but we'll discuss more of his drama filled night later in our recap. With two trucks left poised to take Nitro Hornet off the top spot Brutus came up short with a 21...but Grave Digger with Chad Tingler at the controls took care of business with a 27 to take the Wheelie round.

Next on tap was the Racing portion of the evening. The first race in the bracket was Raminator vs Mega Bite with Mark Hall's Raminator winning out. Then Brutus got past Nitro Hornet and Grave Digger beat out Big Kahuna. Spiderman's engine woes continued and Bari wasn't able to make the call vs Hotsy which granted that truck a meeting with Grave Digger in the Semi-Final round. In that race Grave Digger missed the ramp and was penalized 5 seconds which gave Hotsy a birth in the UTI Championship race. The other Semi-Final race was won by Hotsy's teammate Raminator which put the two corporate Ram's into the UTI Final head to head. It was the rookie Mike Miller in Hotsy falling to his boss Mark Hall driving Raminator.

The crowd was riveted as freestyle began because for the first time a "jack rabbit" style jump was constructed in Council Bluffs for these Monster Jam Trucks to grab some huge air! They absolutely did air it out tonight with Mega Bite the first one out and collecting a 17. He was followed by Big Kahuna's 11 and Hotsy's 14. The rest of the scores for the evening would all land in the twenty's range. Nitro Hornet took the lead with a 23 and Raminator, shooting for the double down eclipsed that, scoring a 27. With three Monster Jam Trucks remaining Bari Musawwir finally got his shot after extensive engine work was done by at least 6 different crew members behind the scenes. Spiderman was well on his way to winning freestyle when we heard a distinctive "pop, pop" and then suffered a loss of power before he reached his 60 second limit. Without filling the clock the judges could only give Bari a 25. Brutus was scheduled to go next but broke a major front end component and couldn't roll. The only Monster Jam Truck that had a chance of keeping Raminator from the Double Down now was Grave  Digger...and he did just that! Tingler scored an amazing 29 out of 30 possible points to walk away with the freestyle victory!

Saturday 2:00pm

The afternoon show in Council Bluffs Iowa was nothing short of spectacular! The near sell-out crowd was thrilled through all three performances, as part of Spiderman's trials and tribulations continued through show number two of the weekend. Up first was the Wheelie competition and Mega Bite started us off with a score of 12. Big Kahuna was to follow, notching a 17, then Hotsy with a 15 and Raminator at a 23 to take the lead. Nitro Hornet then topped them all with a 27 to take the lead. Spiderman and Brutus were not able to take the lead however, scoring 20 and 18 respectively. It came down to Chad Tingler and Grave Digger who posted a huge sky wheelie to take it all with a 29!

Monster Jam Racing was next on the card with Nitro Hornet defeating Hotsy. Spiderman was able to put Mega Bite away and Raminator triumphed over Brutus. The last pair to race in round 1 was Grave Digger knocking off Big Kahuna.
On to the Semi-Finals and we saw Nitro Hornet win by default after Spiderman sheared off a right rear tire. So the "race" was on to repair that truck before freestyle. Grave Digger was able to put Raminator away and meet Nitro Hornet in the UTI Championship Racing Final. Even after "bicycling" the truck on two wheels after hitting a turn car, Chad Tingler in Grave Digger came out on top!

The stage now was set to see if Grave Digger could pull off the Double Down and could Spiderman return? Mega Bite led with a 17 followed by Big Kahuna's 13 and Hotsy's 16. Nitro Hornet used the loss of racing apparently as motivation to go out and rip off a 22! That still wasn't enough as Raminator was able to take the lead next, scoring a 24. The Spiderman team was extremely busy thrashing since the racing incident and finally got the truck back together! It was all for not however as Bari Musawwir rolled early, damaging the truck further and putting the team back to work in order to have the truck ready for Saturday nights program. Brutus followed and tied for the lead with a 24. It came down to Grave Digger...could Chad Tingler pull off the Double Down and a sweep of all 3 elements? The resounding answer was yes! A complete domination by the truck that's been in operation for over 30 years knocked it out of the park scoring a 27!

Saturday 7:30pm

All I can say is...WOW Factor! We had it tonight! From huge saves to a perfect score and teammates head to head for a championship. This cold night in Iowa was red hot inside the Mid America Center.

Wheelies were up first and it was a very tight scoring field. Mega Bite started us out at a 20, Big Kahuna topped that with a 21. Hotsy wasn't able to grab the top spot, falling short with an 18. Two drivers in a row posted top scores as Raminator grabbed a 23 and Nitro Hornet with a 24. Spiderman followed with a 20 and Brutus a 24. At this point we had a tie between Nitro Hornet and Brutus with a 24...but Grave Digger had different plans. Chad Tingler came out and launched his machine high into the air to score the win with a 28.

Next up was the racing bracket. Hotsy started with knocking out Mega Bite. Spiderman eliminated Brutus followed by Grave Digger getting past Nitro Hornet. The final race of round one saw Raminator do away with Big Kahuna. The semi-final rounds went to Hotsey and Raminator eliminating Spiderman (with breakage)  and Grave Digger. This then set up a rematch between teammates that we had witnessed also on Friday night. History repeated itself when Mark Hall's Raminator won the UTI Championship Final.

Mega Bite set the bar with a 16, followed by Big Kahuna scoring a 13. Hotsy then took the lead momentarily with an 18 but was overtaken with Nitro Hornet's 26. It was time for Raminator to pull the trigger in hopes of capturing the coveted Double Down. Unfortunately Mark Hall's attempt came up one point short at a 25. The now repaired Spiderman was able to tie for the lead with a score of a 26 which actually was fantastic considering the extremely rough weekend Bari Musawwir has suffered through. Brutus then had a shot at the lead but pulled up short with a 24. It all came down to Chad Tingler and Grave Digger which had the task ahead to break up the tie at the top...and did he ever! With huge air, slap wheelies and much more, Tingler was on his way! He sealed the deal with the last 15 seconds...a save for the ages which saw the Grave Digger roof touch the ground! Chad later explained "I saw dirt and steered into it. I had momentum to pull off the big save and it all just worked out." He scored perfect, rolling the truck after insane cyclones! It was a 10/10/10 for a 30!

Sunday 2:00pm

The final show at the Mid America Center in Iowa saw a turnaround for a team that had struggled all weekend, a veteran got back into championship contention and one driver had a great shot at a Double Down.

Wheelies got us fired up with Mega Bite who scored a very impressive 24 followed by Big Kahuna who tied with a 24. Hotsy and Raminator pulled up a little short with scores of 18 and 23. Nitro Hornet then blasted to the lead with a 25! David Smith's score would hold as Spider-man , Britus and Grave Digger notched 24, 16 and 17.

Monster Jam Racing was the next element with some great match-ups on tap. Raminator was able to eliminate Brutus who broke with transmission failure. Spider-man who had endured mechanical gremlins all weekend was able to beat Big Kahuna. Grave Digger sent Hotsy back to the pit area and Niro Hornet continued its winning ways with eliminating Mega Bite. The Semi-Final round saw Spider-man knock out Raminator and Grave Digger dropped Nitro Hornet out of contention. The UTI Championship Race saw an extremely happy Bari Musawwir finally get a win for the weekend by eliminating Grave Digger.

Mega Bite got us rolling with a 19 followed by Big Kahuna's 20, Hotsy's 15 and the early leader, Nitro Hornet at a 23. Raminator then took the lead with a 24 but was immediately overtaken by Spider-man's 25. Now after his frustrating weekend Bari Musawwir had a shot at the Double Down! However, when Grave Digger came out he was able to crossthread like no one else and pull off some huge air and absolutely threw down with a 27!
