The return of the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam to Bangor, Maine was met with cold conditions, rain and a crowd that didn’t care one bit about the weather. They came to see the action and they came ready to let the drivers know they approved.
A field of six trucks was joined by Street Warriors and Quad Wars for the first of four events at Speedway 95. Monster would get to perform in wheelies, racing and Advance Auto parts Service is Our Best Part freestyle, giving these hearty fans a great show.
As the rain began to subside during the pre-show events, the stands continued to fill. When the Monster Jam drivers were introduced, the crowd braced itself for the first competition – wheelies.
Making his Bangor debut with his Higher Education “Cool Bus”, Jim Tracey went right to work to tally a 19. Superman fell a point short and the return of Maine’s own Greg Winchenbach and Crushstation had the fans jumping to their feet. Crushstation did not disappoint moving into a tie for the lead. It became a three-way tie when 2012 World Freestyle Champion Cam McQueen and Northern Nightmare offered a sample of the winning action. Kreg Christensen and Maximum Destruction broke the tie in a big way, moving the bar to a 23. Grave Digger with Chad Tingler came looking for the win to add to the Bad to the Bone for 30 Years celebration, but an 18 didn’t get the job done. Maximum Destruction opened the night on top.
The racing action resulted in some pretty close finishes. Round one activity saw Crushstation nab a popular win over Superman, Grave Digger took out higher Education and Maximum Destruction squeezed past Northern Nightmare. Higher Education got the call to return as fast loser, but a loss to Crushstation ended the hopes. Maximum Destruction powered through to gain the win over Grave Digger. The UTI racing final pitted Maximum Destruction in the right lane, believed to be the weaker of the two, but a good start and strong run propelled Maximum Destruction past Crushstation.
The Advance Auto Parts Service is Our Best Part Freestyle arrived with drivers searching for what it would take to stop maximum Destruction. Additional obstacles gave the trucks a better chance at wowing the fans and it worked. Higher education opened with a solid 17, only to see it removed from the top of the leader board when Superman hit the jackrabbit stack for big air and a score of 18. Crushstation proved lobsters can fly and earned the top spot with a 21. Northern Nightmare put up a solid run, but it wasn’t enough to move the leader, gaining a 20. Maximum Destruction put new meaning on big air, hanging some high fliers that earned him a leading score 24. Grave Digger hit the infield and neared the end of the run when the truck shut down abruptly. Driver Chad Tingler reported a throttle issue that led to a decision to end the run, bringing a score of 21. Saturday 2 p.m.

The day dawned sunny as the second show in the weekend appearance of the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam in Bangor offered plenty of excitement.
A morning pit party gave many of the early arrivals a perfect opportunity to meet the drivers and see the trucks up close and personal. When the gates opened, a capacity crowd found seats in the grandstands and settled in for the action. The monster jam truck lineup came roaring into the track as the crowd gave them a rousing welcome. The first item of business was the wheelie competition, giving each truck two chances to wow the judges. Higher Education stepped up to present for a 22 to set the bar high. Superman made it more difficult by raising it to a score of 25. Crushstation equaled the mark to set up a tie that was broken by Northern Nightmare who boosted it to a 26. Saturday 7:30 p.m.

Saturday night proved to be a night of action for the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam presented by Cumberland Farms Chill Zone. The back half of the daily double of action saw new scenarios develop as the weekend winds down to the Sunday finale.
A field of six Advance auto Parts Monster Jam trucks was whittled to five when driveline problems hit Crushstation during the opening wheelie action. Higher Education took the early lead with an 18 that stood until Northern Nightmare showed why Cam McQueen is the reigning world freestyle champion, getting big air with meaning. His run held up through the challenges of Maximum Destruction and Grave Digger as Northern Nightmare took the second wheelie win of the day.
Racing action would continue without Crushstation, giving Superman a bye run. Maximum Destruction got the better of Northern Nightmare from the start and parlayed that into a win. Grave Digger knocked off Higher Education in the last pairing. To even the field to four trucks, Higher Education returned with a provisional, but promptly lost to Maximum Destruction. Grave Digger met up with Superman in what became an easy Grave Digger win when Superman could not move off the starting line. The truck was done for the night. The UTI raci final once again pitted Maximum Destruction against Grave Digger and Maximum Destruction driver Kreg Christensen scored his second racing win of the weekend.
In the Advance Auto Parts Service is Our Best Part freestyle, four trucks remained in the pit area with frantic work continuing on Superman and Crushstation. Higher Education stepped up to go first and pulled a powerful 21 to start it off. Northern Nightmare matched it as driver Cam McQueen relived his championship moments from the 2012 Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals for theBangor fans. McQueen tossed a couple of T-shirts and climbed to the announcer's tower to give the fans the driver's perspective. He watched as Maximum Dstruction broke the tie with an impressive 26. About that time, Crushstation roared from the pits to the delight of the Maine crowd. The return was cut short by a flat tire, but not before the truck scored 22 points. The final opportunity awaited for Grave Digger. The team had just heard news of the Grave Digger racing win in the Path of Destruction event in Philadelphia and wanted to cap the night in Bangor. Driver Chad Tingler did just that by adding a 27 to the tally and a freestyle win in the Bad to the Bone for 30 Years celebration.
Richard Brooks was fastest in some close Street Warriors racing. Team Maine settled for a split in the heats, but took the final after a captain's challenge was accepted.

Sunday 2 p.m.

Any day is a great day for an Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam but the Sunday afternoon in Bangor was nearly perfect as the skies were sunny and the temperatures just right. The action on the track gave the fans in the stands the feeling they made the right call to be there to see the show.
With five of the six trucks answering the call for introductions, the field moved to the line for wheelie action. Higher Education made it quite clear that it would take a great effort to win as Jim Tracey scored a 24. Superman nipped at his heels with a 22. Northern Nightmare charged out and set the truck vertical, then over onto its top. As driver Cam McQueen climbed out in hopes of the leading scorer, he was disappointed with a 23. Maximum Destruction wouldn't see disappointment with a leading score of 25. Grave Digger came next with a 21, which completed all of the trucks that were in the infield, but we weren't done. Working through the morning hours, the crew of Crushstation was able to put their truck back into competition just in time for wheelies. Greg Winchenbach was determined to not let this chance get away, slapping the tail to the ground on the first pass and then sticking the second wheelie into a rollover. The appreciative Maine crowd roared when the effort brought a 27 and victory.
Racing action saw Northern Nightmare take out Grave Digger in round one. Other round one results saw Maximum Destruction shoot off the line ahead of Higher Education, who suffered a broken transmission and could not complete the day. Crushstation edged Superman, who would return as fast loser for the semi finals. Superman could not get past Northern Nightmare in semi finals and Maximum Destruction shot past Crushstation. In the UTI racing final, Northern Nightmare prevailed over Maximum Destruction.
The Advance Auto Parts Service is Our Best Part freestyle closed the Monster Jam truck action with Superman setting up a run of 21. Crushstation hit the jackrabbit jump at the start, landing hard and blowing a right front tire too early in the competition to gain a score. Driver Greg Winchenbach spoke to the Maine fans and added some driver insight into the competition. Northern Nightmare came to the floor and filled the 60 seconds before rolling over for the second time in the day. Cam McQueen joined Winchenbach as guest announcer after scoring 16 in freestyle. Maximum Destruction went big to get the lead with a 25, but Grave Digger went bigger to tally a 25 and gain the win.
