Saturday 7:00 p.m. – The Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Path of Destruction debuted with incredible action, close competitive racing, and amazing freestyle performances at M & T Bank Stadium in Baltimore with Dennis Anderson powering Grave Digger to the Double Down trophy, winning both the racing bracket and freestyle competition.
The Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Path of Destruction Tour will continue to rock the east coast with events in Philadelphia June 9th and then in East Rutherford, NJ, June 16th.
With a massive and popular Party in the Pits getting the crowd throughout the afternoon the action inside the stadium got started early with the addition of a round of practice runs for all of the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam trucks before opening ceremonies. While Grave Digger struggled in practice, Anderson was ready for qualifying and set the fast time with a 19.76 run, two tenths of a second quicker than Linsey Weenk and Lucas Oil Crusader who won the first event in the home of the Baltimore Ravens a year ago.
Anderson then backed up his qualifying run with excellent fast passes on the Chicago style oval round after round, and Grave Digger defeated Lucas Oil Crusader in the UTI Championship Round Race.
Freestyle provided a series of thrilling Wow moments including John Seasock and Advance Auto Parts Grinder bringing the crowd to its feet when “The People’s Truck” executed a backflip, but the bounce after completing the 360 sent Grinder over on to its roof, and not filling the clock cost Seasock a chance at the win. In the end it was a ragged edge big air Grave Digger performance that earned Dennis a two-point win over his son Adam in the Legend truck for the Grave Digger team when the final contestant, Tom Meents in Maximum Destruction left the crowd with one more reason to roar, ending his freestyle by soaring into the beautiful night sky with one of the night’s most breathtaking leap, ending the night as Maximum Destruction crashed onto its roof.
