A sold out crowd filled the Reliant Stadium for the final of three Advance Auto Parts Monster Jams. For the second time in his career Alex Blackwell drove Wolverine to a double down. Blackwell’s last Double Down came last year here at the same place and same show the third one. Wolverine took out The Legend in the finals and then outscored a field of sixteen Monster trucks to win with a score of twenty five.

The night started off with racing and there were several photo finishes that had the crowd on their feet. Grinder had two photo finishes taking out Pouncer in round one and The Rod Ryan Show truck in round two. Wolverine escaped a close one in round two by defeating Grave Digger by inches. Another close call was the Battle between Superman and Maximum Destruction in round one as Max D. beat Superman by less than two feet. The wildest ride of the night came in the Semi finals when Nicole Johnson end over ended the Grinder truck as she cross the finish line with a loss to Wolverine. The Grinder team needed all the time before freestyle to fix the battered truck which did make it to freestyle.

Freestyle had its ups and downs as only six of sixteen trucks made it into bonus time. Some of the thrills was the freestyles of Devin Jones in Barbarian who finished 6th a best for him this year. Maximum Destruction and Grave Digger both had strong starts to their freestyles but both rolled over leaving a lot of time on the clock. The Rod Ryan truck and predator also finished in the top seven. Here are all the results from tonight’s Monster Jam.

Round two racing: Wolverine def. Grave Digger, Grinder def. Rod Ryan, The Legend def. Captain America, Maximum Destruction def. King Krunch.

Semi Finals: Wolverine def. Grinder, The Legend def. Maximum Destruction.

Finals: Wolverine defeats Grave Digger The Legend.
