Friday, 7:30 P.M.

Albuquerque has once again experienced the excitement of the greatest motor sport, Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam. The Monster Jam weekend has started in Albuquerque with a great level of competition, with world champions in Freestyle and Racing.
A mix of experienced drivers as well as new talents made the first night of competition here in Albuquerque a great one.

The Monster Jam Wheelie Competition was the first match of the night. We had several high scores, and some great wheelies. Sky wheelies, and a few slap wheelies were in tonight’s menu. The first great score of 20 points came when Destroyer ( Dan Evans) came for a couple of great wheelies, one of which was a great Sky Wheelie. Grave Digger tied with Destroyer at 20 points, and El Toro Loco (Mark McDonald) came on strong and launched itself greatly to perform two perfect hits with a fantastic back wheelie. All of it combined achieved a score of 22 points. Scoring closer to those 20’s, Blue Thunder ended up with 17 points.

Drivers drew their positions for racing, and the brackets had a very competitive first round of racing.

Round One:

Destroyer versus Monster Mutt, the winner was Destroyer. MonsterMutt came real close to winning that match, but at the very last hit, Joe Miller(Monster Mutt) went off the ramp and as a result had a penalization before landing on the finish line.
Grave Digger versus Terminator, the winner was Grave Digger. El Toro Loco versus McGruff, the winner was El Toro Loco. Pitbull versus Blue Thunder , the winner was Blue Thunder.

Semifinals Round:

Destroyer versus Grave Digger, the winner was Grave Digger. El Toro Loco versus Blue Thunder, the winner was El Toro Loco.

Final Round:

Two world champions faced off in the final round of Monster Jam Racing. El Toro Loco versus Grave Digger. The light went green and Chad Tingler( Grave Digger) floored the truck and made no concessions at the turns before hitting the ramps. The result was a great victory for Grave Digger.

Highly competitive is the best way to describe tonight’s Freestyle. Very high scores were seen here due to the great performances by all drivers in the quest to have Monster Jam fans on the edge of their seats. Destroyer earned 21 points, Blue Thunder 25, Grave Digger 27, Monster Mutt 28 and El Toro Loco with a perfect score of 30 points. Mark McDonald had a great performance, hit ramps and crushed cars more than anybody else, and flew over the highest obstacles of the track. It was just fantastic. Great performances were seen here tonight, leaving a sense of anticipation for the second day of competition in Albuquerque. We’ll keep you up to date with all the progress and excitement.

Saturday, 7:30 P.M.

The Tingley Coliseum was filled with Monster Jam fans since the very beginning of the Advance Auto Parts Party In The Pits. Fans ran from side to side to have an autograph from the drivers and of course have a picture taken for a great memory of tonight's event.

Our first competition of the night was Monster Jam Wheelies. All monster trucks came onto the track willing to improve their previous scores from the night before, and most of them got a better score. This means that drivers got better acquainted with the track. We got to see great scores from most of the trucks, most of them in the 20’s.

Terminator 17; Pitbull 14; Mcgruff 16; Destroyer 21; Blue Thunder 20; Monster Mutt 25; El Toro Loco 26, and Grave Digger 27.

The winner of the Monster Jam Wheelie Contest was Grave Digger. Chad Tingler scored his first victory of the night. Grave Digger lowered the front end of the truck and floored the gas over the ramp, which resulted in a great sky wheelie, with a slap wheelie at the landing.

One of the characteristics of tonight’s event was great speed. All drivers went for great speed, and great skill controlling the turns going towards the ramps.

Round One.

Destroyer versus Monster Mutt, the winner was Destroyer. Grave Digger versus Terminator, the winner was Grave Digger. McGruff versus El Toro Loco, the winner El Toro Loco. Pitbull versus Blue Thunder, the winner was Blue Thunder.

Semi Finals Round.

Dan Evans floored Destroyer and a Grave Digger bump on a crush car brought as a result another round won by Destroyer. El Toro Loco lost against Blue Thunder. Once again a difficult turn for El Toro caused him to lose his advantage to Blue Thunder.

Final Round.

Destroyer and Blue Thunder made it to the final round for the first time during this weekend. The green light went on, and Destroyer once again left not a single inch to the advantage of Blue Thunder. Dan Evans with great speed and great control of the truck made it first on the finish line, being this the first victory for Destroyer during this weekend in Albuquerque.

Pit Bull 14; Terminator 19; McGruff 20; Destroyer 24; Blue Thunder 25; Monster Mutt 26; El Toro Loco 29; Grave Digger 30.

As you can see the scores just kept going better and better competitor after competitor. Monster Mutt, El Toro Loco and Grave Digger all shared on strategy, speed and jumping over the high obstacles. However Grave Digger was faster and just hit the obstacles more times than his closest competitors. This gave Chad Tingler (Grave Digger) a perfect score of 30 points.

It was a night of double down for Grave Digger after wining in the Wheelies and Free Style competitions. What a great night of speed and skill in the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque. There is one more day of competition left in Albuquerque, and we’ll keep you posted.

Sunday, 2:00 P.M.

It was the last day of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and again it was great day of competition.

All drivers knew that they had one last chance to score a victory today, therefore they really went at it on the track, and left the Albuquerque fans all cheering until the very last minute.

In Monster Jam Wheelies, I saw great performances and so did the judges which gave some high scores. Terminator scored 15, Pitbull 18, his best score throughout the weekend. Mcgruff 14. Destroyer scored 20 one more time in the Wheelie contest. Blue Thunder tied with Destroyer with 20 points. Monster Mutt came short on his score of 19 after landing and going sideways on the ramp. El Toro Loco was consistant with high scores throughout the weekend and got 25 points with a couple of sky Wheelies and a great slap Wheelie. Grave Digger came last for another great performance earning him 25 points. The crowd went silent especially after knowing that there was a tie between the two World Champions at 25 points. A silent judge broke the tie awarding one bonus point to El Toro Loco leaving him with 26 points in total. It was the second victory for Mark McDonald(El ToroLoco) in the Monster Jam Wheelie Contest.

Monster Jam Racing has again seen at least a couple of trucks that hadn’t made it to the Semi Final round of racing. Monster Mutt won over Destroyer. Blue Thunder won over Pitbull achieving with this his first pass to the Semi Final round of racing this weekend. In round one Grave Digger won over Terminator, and El Toro loco won over McGruff.

Semi Finals Round:

Grave Digger took over the track with great speed and great control on a slippery surface. Joe Miller ( Monter Mutt) lost control of the truck while going to the last hit over the ramp on his way to the finish line. Chad Tingler ( Grave Digger) took advantage of Monster Mutt's mishap and won his Semi Final match. El Toro Loco floored it at maximum speed, and won over Blue Thunder who bumped into a crushed car and lost valuable seconds towards the finish line. El Toro Loco advanced to the final round against Grave Digger.

Final Round:

Two World Champions at a racing final is something you don’t want to miss. Two experienced drivers delivered a great final round of racing, and one of them had to win. Grave Digger came across with great control over the slippery floor, El Toro Loco lost sections while slipping in one of the turns, and Grave Digger capitalized on the opportunity and won the Final Rounc of Monster Jam Racing.

Albuquerque saw a tremendous quest for victory throughout this weekend. Friday night it went to El Toro Loco, Saturday night went to Grave Digger, and we had to wait until Sunday to see how history would be written. In spite of the slippery track most trucks had been scoring great. Dan Evans (Destroyer) had been very close to winning scores, same thing for Monster Mutt and Blue Thunder, scoring in the 20’s. Monster Mutt went a little crazier than usual and combined speed with jumps all across the track over the crushed cars and dirt ramps. High flying jumps and all gave Joe Miller ( Monster Mutt) 27 points, his highest score this weekend. El Toro Loco really came out loco(crazy) and started with flying Wheelies over the crushed cars, and a couple of impressive slap wheelies. Multiple jumps, crossed jumps from ramp to ramp without stopping and great speed gave El Toro Loco a perfect score of 30. Grave Digger came short 2 points to make a perfect score, and finished with a 28. Tingler(Grave Digger) used speed and high flying jumps as well. However, he did not hit all obstacles as many times as El Toro Loco had done. El Toro Loco took his second victory in Freestyle this weekend in Albuqurque.

In Quad Wars we had Team New Mexico win twice. Team California won on Sunday. Friday and Saturday had the both team captains resolve the races in one on one race. Sunday was not that fortunate for New Mexico after losing one on one against Team California.

Street Warriors racing had Robert Whitman on Mistress winning with the best time at 31.2 seconds for two laps. Brian Making on Kenmore RCBS Racing came second with 31.8 seconds, and Armando Ortiz came third with 32 seconds.

It was a great motor sport weekend in Albuquerque, and we’re looking forward to November when we’ll be back with more of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam. Thanks Albuquerque fans for the great hospitality and for the loud cheering for all our drivers. Hope to see you in Las Vegas for the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals.
