Weekend Race RecapGrand Junction, CO (May 31-June 2, 2002)

Friday
Friday night in Grand Junction brought a number of things to the many USHRA fans that were attending. The monster trucks were in prime form and put on an unforgettable show. In the Monster Truck competition, Round 1 put Obsession up against Blacksmith, and Bustin Loose up against King Krunch. Blacksmith, the fast loser, raced Grave Digger in Round 2. Round winners Obsession and King Krunch also competed against eachother in Round 2. Winners, Grave Digger and Obsession, battled it out in the final round where Obsession was named champion. Digger got squirrely over a roller and had to let out, taking nothing away from a great run by Rick Swanson & Obsession.

Grave Digger and King Krunch put on an incredible freestyle show, with Grave Digger winning by only 1 point.

In Street Warriors, Tom Pike won with the fastest time of the night. The 2nd place driver, Duane Huff, put on a spectacular show losing all sorts of body parts. Finally, in the Quad Wars, Team Nebraska won the main against Team Colorado. Team Colorado's captain challenged them and won.

Saturday
Saturday's competition was a little tougher and a lot harder than the night before. The Monster Truck competition had Grave Digger vs. King Krunch with King Krunch winning in a photo finish. Grave Digger vs. Blacksmith tied in the freestyle competition with well deserved perfect 30's. Ryan Huffaker performed like a seasoned veteran in freestyle showing that he will be the one to contend with in the future. He put the pressure on Grave Digger who had to drive extremely hard just to tie the new kid on the All-American tour.

Duane Bloom topped the field of 14 Street Warriors for the main event win. In the Quad Wars, Team Nebraska won. Bobby Parr and the Announcer fought it out and the a challenge was made. Team Colorado won to a roaring crowd!

Sunday
On the last day in Grand Junction, the monster finals put Obsession up against King Krunch with Obsession winning by mere inches.

In the freestyle competition, Grave Digger got a perfect score of 30, and Black Smith came in close with 28 points after nearly rolling in the freestyle competition. Bicycling up on the right side tires - Black Smith was able to save the roll over.

The Colorado crowd wanted to see their home team take the Quad Wars just one more time. Team Nebraska snaked out a win by cutting a corner, but Colorado challenged them and they won. The crowd went crazy!!
