Weekend Race Recap
Santa Rosa, Calif. (April 25-26, 2002)
SANTA ROSA - FRIDAY
The USHRA Monster Jam was welcomed back to the wine country with a fired-up crowd. Friday night the fans saw some great racing from a variety of elements. The monster trucks were ready to take on the straight-line course. Firemouth was the story of the night. The rookie Carl VanHorn drove Firemouth with the skill of a veteran driver and dominated racing all night long including the final by taking out the World Champion Team Meents. But monster action didn't end there, there was Monster Truck freestyle competition which brought the crowd to their feet. It was battle between Grave Digger and Team Meents, But Tom Meents came out on top with a perfect 30 and his signature helmet slam completed the night of monster truck action.

The Pro Arena Truck series was also in Santa Rosa. The fans saw some great Chicago-style roundy round action as two trucks took to the course each race. The final saw the Mazda-sponsored truck driven by David Peplow and the veteran racer Tom Jones go head-to-head in the final. Tom Jones took the victory as David Peplow rolled over in the corner and could not finish the race.

Quad wars invaded the Sonoma County Fairgrounds to round off a great show line-up for some of the best fans along the Monster Jam World Tour. Team California had their neighbors Team Nevada in town. Team California dominated all the racing during the night and was almost teaching Nevada how to ride.

It should be a even more exciting night of racing on Saturday night as the Monster Jam World Tour will be back in action at 7:30 PM on Saturday night. Fans will also have the opportunity to get up-close and personal with the drivers, riders and stars of the show on Saturday afternoon from 5:00-6:00 PM during the pit party.

SANTA ROSA - SATURDAY
The Monster Jam World Tour was roaring again tonight in Santa Rosa as the monster trucks performed in front of a Sold-out crowd at Chris Beck Arena in the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.

The monster trucks were spectacular all night long. The racing paired up Firemouth vs. Team Meents in the final with Carl VanHorn defeating the world champion and claiming his second consecutive victory of the 2002 Santa Rosa tour stop. Monster truck freestyle was even more exciting as we had the full field performing and giving the crowd everything short of a Las Vegas World Final freestyle performance. Grave Digger was given the victory in the freestyle competition with a score of 28 pts.

There was also the Pro Arena Trucks competing for points as the season is coming close to and end. Tom Jones faced Brian Spady in the final and the victory went to Tom Jones in his shiny new Ford Pickup.

Quad Wars were back to round out the incredible line-up. It was a total shock to the crowd when home team, Team California, was defeated by the visiting team, Team Nevada to bring the weekend scorecard to one victory a piece. So tomorrow will be the tiebreaker as they face-off in the final show of the 2002 Santa Rosa tour stop. Fans will be able to catch the faced pace action at 2:00 PM Sunday in Chris Beck Arena at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.
