MonsterJam.com: Hi Brian, it’s been a couple months since the last time we talked.  We hear you’ve have a lot going on, including a charity boxing match against Dave Mirra.  What can you tell us about that fight?

Brian Deegan: The fight was a really good and it was for the EllisMania 7 event and all of the proceeds went to charity.  The fight was against Dave Mirra, who is a really serious competitor and a great match up. I trained hard with Mike Tyson, and Tyson’s boxing coach Tom Patti.  I trained for two months and I know Dave trained hard as well.  It was the most challenging thing I have ever done in my career and it was something I always wanted to do, get in the ring in front of thousands of people.  It was a great boxing match and I ended up winning in the fourth and final round. It was my boxing skills that persevered in the end

MonsterJam.com:  What’s are the main differences between the way a monster truck handles and some of your other motor sports passions like off road racing and freestyle motocross?

Brian Deegan:  Driving a monster truck is a lot more technical than it looks.  It is a big heavy vehicle that you have to maneuver around.  It is more challenging than I thought.  In general, I use skills from riding dirt bikes and racing and transfer those into the monster truck. I have fun with it - it’s a big toy for adults.  It's really fun to destroy stuff and jump trucks.  It’s what I’m in to.  Four wheels have a lot of power, they are super loud and exciting.

MonsterJam.com:  Rumor has it that you’ll be doing another round of monster truck testing coming up.  How has the testing been going, and what do you hope to take away from this round of testing?

Brian Deegan:  Yes, I am back at Digger’s Dungeon.  The guys have been super cool with helping me out. I’m learning how to control the truck better.  Every form of racing is about how much practice time you put into it.  It’s something I take serious.  I come out here and get more comfortable in the truck, jump higher and do more tricks.  It seems to be going good.

MonsterJam.com:  We’ve seen the Hot Wheels Monster Jam Metal Mulisha toys at retailers, they look great!  Are you happy with the way they turned out?

Brian Deegan:  Yes, as a kid I was always into toy trucks and playing in the dirt.  It was cool to build a toy that I would have been pumped about as a kid and a toy that my boys are excited about.  It’s cool.  Mulisha is about doing new stuff.   It fits our image and the toys turned out great.

MonsterJam.com:  We sure hope all of your interest in monster trucks leads to something bigger with Monster Jam someday.  Do you have any official announcements for us (nudge nudge)?

Brian Deegan:  I hope so!  It’s something we’ve been discussing, and I’d be pumped to drive a Metal Mulisha monster truck and bring Mulisha to the Monster Jam fan base and millions of kids.  We’ll find out soon!”
