Past Monster Jam National Tournament Video Game Winners, Where Are They Now?
Part One of a Two Part Series
Aurora, Ill. (February 13, 2011)
Monster Jam recently caught up with the former Monster Jam National Tournament Video Game Champion Eric Myers to see what he is up to now. Tune in next week for an interview with the 2008 National Tournament winner Jordan Rager.
MJ: What have you been up to for the past two years since you won the Monster Jam National Tournament?
EM: I've actually started my own photography business, and have been an event photographer for Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam in Sacramento and Oakland.
MJ: Have you been to any Monster Jam events since the 2009 Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals?
EM: Yes, I went to the 2010 Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals this past year and crazily enough I was recognized by fans as the winner of 2009 National Tournament
MJ: Can you tell Monster Jam fans what you thought about your experience at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals and what was your
most memorable moment?
EM: My experience was great, I got to meet a lot of great people and meet up with friends from monster mayhem. My favorite experience was the atmosphere surrounding Sam Boyd Stadium and the excitement was great.
MJ: How difficult was playing the game under pressure in front of a live audience at the WF?
EM: Well I think the qualifying races during the pit party I was under more pressure than when I was on the main stage, once I had made it to the final round a calm had come over me and it seemed like I was more relaxed and could focus better.
MJ: How often did you practice for the tournament, and have often do you play Monster Jam: Path of Destruction?
EM: I started practicing when I found out I was going to be in the Regional tournament in Oakland, and I actually didn't practice between Oakland and Vegas. Racing games come naturally to me. I play Monster Jam: Path of Destruction a lot when I'm not working, I think it’s a great advancement in the Monster Jam Series and can't wait to see what the future brings.
MJ: What truck is your favorite truck to race with while playing Monster Jam: Path of Destruction?
EM: My favorite truck to play has to be Captains Curse. I have always been a huge fan of the willy’s body style, reminds me of Mr. Destruction during the steel wall stunts.
MJ: What advice would you give to the contestants that win a chance to compete?
EM: Have fun! Most of all it’s just a game and the main prize is being at the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals!
