Advance also Announces Second Grinder™ Monster Truck and Driver, as well as New Merchandise  

 ROANOKE, Va., November 12, 2010 -  Advance Auto Parts, Inc. (NYSE: AAP), a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of batteries, brakes, parts, accessories, and maintenance items, announced today the launch of the second season of a multiyear relationship as the title sponsor of Advance Auto PartsMonster Jam®. Advance Auto Parts and Monster Jam have a long-standing relationship dating back to 1997. Advance Auto Parts began its national partnership with Monster Jam in 2004 and became the “Official Auto Parts Retailer” of all Monster Jam events in the United States, while holding that designation until last year’s transition to the title sponsorship.      


In addition to becoming the series’ title sponsor in 2009, , Advance also became the primary sponsor of a brand new monster truck, Grinder™, driven by Lupe Soza, the 2004 Monster Jam World Finals freestyle champion.  Previously, Soza drove the Advance sponsored El Toro Loco®.   He has been racing for 23 years, eight of those years with the Monster Jam tour.  Grinder’s inaugural season was a great success as the team finished in the top three in nine different Monster Jam events, including tour stops in San Antonio, Houston, Roanoke, Rosemont, Biloxi, Philadelphia, West Lebanon, Stafford Springs, and Sunrise. In the upcoming season, a second Grinder truck will be introduced, driven by John Seasock.  A Monster Jam legend, Seasock has been involved in the sport since 1990 and is a two-time Monster Jam World Finals racing champion, driving the Batman™ monster truck.   

John Seasock will be introduced to Monster Jam fans as the newest member of the Advance Auto Parts Grinder race team at the Minneapolis Metrodome this Saturday, November 13 prior to Soza competing in the event that evening.   

Additionally, Advance Auto Parts is proud to announce that assorted Hot Wheels Monster Jam 1:64 scale die-cast monster truck toys are now available at most store locations.  Beginning in mid-December, the Grinder Hot Wheels 1:64 die-cast monster truck toy will also be available in most Advance Auto Parts stores.    

Also, the Monster Jam: Path of Destruction™ video game made its retail debut this week.  The newest addition to the Monster Jam video game franchise is the ultimate Monster Jam experience complete with unprecedented realism, customization, truck handling and all-out destruction.  Fan-favorites Grinder , Grave Digger® and Maximum Destruction® are all in the mix, and players can also create and customize their own trucks with thousands of options, unlocking new parts and upgrades as they progress through the video game with the ultimate goal of reaching the Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam World Finals.
