It has become fondly known as the annual “I Love Florida Tour”. Once again in 2013 the sport has rocked the Sunshine State all year with a series of incredible Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® events thrilling more than a quarter of a million fans live since January. And we’re not done yet. This weekend Florida Monster Jam enthusiasts get another sensational weekend of live thrills when a stellar line-up battles in the BB & T Center in Sunrise.

Like so many stops each year in Florida, this traditional summer competition in the Ft. Lauderdale area has usually been a site where Team Grave Digger® has racked up the victories. This year legendary driver Gary Porter returns to wheel the black and green wrecking machine, looking to extend the success he had on the race course in this building a year ago. Porter powered his Grave Digger to an undefeated racing weekend across all three Monster Jam events there in 2012. Go back another year in the Sunrise Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam history book and you’ll see that Pablo Huffaker drove Grave Digger to an equally dominating weekend in 2011, posting a perfect racing record on that August weekend as well. So heading back to the BB & T Center this weekend Team Grave Digger brings a winning streak of 18 straight triumphs in racing competition at that venue.

Here’s a quick Sunrise Monster Jam fact: the last Monster Jam driver to defeat Grave Digger in Sunrise was Linsey Weenk, who turned the trick in his Blue Thunder® days back in 2010.

To extend the current Sunrise streak Grave Digger will have to be at 100% with a line-up stacked full of some of the best race teams in the sport ready to challenge in the race bracket. For starters, Sunrise fans have to be looking forward to the extension of “The Greatest Rivalry in Motorsports”, Grave Digger vs. Max-DSM with Neil Elliott drawing the driving assignment in the 10th Anniversary Max-D as that record setting team continues to celebrate a Decade of Maximum Destruction. Max-D’s inclusion in this field figures to be an especially popular part of this weekend’s trip to South Florida. Max-D last competed here back in 2007.

A couple of first time competitors at this event should also be popular additions both on the track and during the Party in the Pits. 2009 Monster Jam WorldSM Freestyle Champion Damon Bradshaw will be action here behind the wheel of his awesome Monster Energy Monster Jam truck for the first time in his stellar career. One of the sport’s premier first year teams will also be on the roster in Sunrise: El DiabloSM, the truck created by Monster Jam fans during Hispanic Heritage Month at monsterjam.com, is sure to be a big hit with the South Florida fans. El Diablo will of course be driven by rookie J. P. Ruggiero, the bi-lingual driver who has had several impressive performances already in his rookie driving season.

Rounding out the field this weekend in Sunrise for what will be intense competition against some of the best in the sport will be another fan favorite, Whit Tarlton in Monster MuttSM, along with Florida native Scott Hartsock in Gunslinger, always a threat to add to his lengthy resume of winning performances, especially in his home state.

From the major stadium events in Tampa, Orlando, Miami, and Jacksonville to a series of crowd pleasing performances in arenas and at outdoor venues across the state, Florida has seen another year of amazing racing and high flying freestyle thrills in 2013. For fans in the sun soaked state there is more to come with three action packed events coming to the BB & T Center this weekend. If you are in South Florida this weekend do not miss this last 2013 opportunity to see the stars of Monster Jam in Florida live, rocking the house as only the superstars of Monster Jam do!
