From Moline To.....Abu Dhabi!

Looking at my spring schedule of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® announcing in 2013 and I’m sure you can understand my surprise at that routing – an incredible weekend in Moline, Illinois, followed by the chance to be a part of the sport’s history when Monster Jam makes its first ever appearance in the Middle East, with a huge field of superstars heading to the United Arab Emirates for the first ever Monster Jam event at Zayed City Sports Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday, May 10th.

Thinking back it was not all that many years ago that the months of April and May were mostly used to get ready for summer time events on the sport’s schedule, many at great race tracks around the country. Now with Monster Jam a true worldwide phenomenon it has also become virtually a year round sport and last weekend was testament to that with sensational events that were contested last weekend in not only Moline but in Bismarck, North Dakota as well.

The annual action packed weekend at the i wireless Center in Moline has turned into a real spring highlight these past few years. The events held there last Saturday and Sunday may have been the best ever in the Quad Cities, and it was easy to see thatl the fans thought that way. The sold out crowd that packed the venue Saturday night was roaring all night long and the on track thrills were off the hook. In the midst of an incredibly talented 8 Monster Jam truck line-up it was Paxton, IL, powerhouse Tom Meents and Max-DSM  who received the night’s loudest cheers in his home state and Max-D took all of the hardware, coming out on top of this challenging roster to win all four competitions held that night along the banks of the Mississippi River. Max-D was able to add two more wins on Sunday although Avenger driver Jim Koehler and Grave Digger® pilot Gary Porter broke through with triumphs themselves during the weekend wrap-up that afternoon.

Meents also has an itinerary that follows-up that awesome Monster Jam trip to Moline with the around the globe journey coming next week to the United Arab Emirates. This next major step in the continuing growth of Monster Jam will carry a field of some of the sport’s most popular Monster Jam trucks and most talented drivers into Zayed City Sports Stadium. Like the 11-time Monster Jam World Champion, the other drivers heading to Abu Dhabi have been openly marveling about having the chance to compete in a brand new part of the Monster Jam world, and it seems clear that adding even more events in more new countries is now more probable than ever. There are so many reasons that the incredible expansion of Monster Jam is continuing but make no mistake about it, reason number one is the Monster Jam fans. Monster Jam is thrilling in any language and from the first ventures outside of North American which began almost a decade ago in Europe it was clear that the passion American fans have for the sport would carry over to new countries, on to new continents. Just look at the annual mega weekend featuring three sensational stadium events in Arnhem, Holland as the greatest example of that. Every year the Dutch fans have filled the party in the pits to capacity then packed into the seats of the ultra modern Gelredome and cheered for their favorite Monster Jam superstars as loudly as any crowd anywhere.

So this amazing sport that provides so many thrills to millions of fans all over the globe is ready to take the next huge step in this development, and everyone heading to Abu Dhabi is stoked to be able to bring this one of a kind action to a whole new part of the world where thousands of new Monster Jam fans will be a part of history, enjoying the most exciting night that can be witnessed anywhere in sports or entertainment live when Monster Jam rocks Abu Dhabi, competing for the first time ever in the UAE on Friday May 10th.
