DRIVER HISTORY

The son of legendary off road driver Curt LeDuc, a top level racer for more than 25 years, Todd LeDuc entered the world of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam after achieving lots of success of his own in a variety of motorsports platforms. After Todd’s high school graduation he started racing downhill mountain bikes, winning two US national titles and Leduc was at one time the #1 ranked rider in the nation. In 2005 Todd followed his dad’s career path and started racing off-road trucks on short courses and in the desert where he continued to add to his resume of success. A longtime fan of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam, Todd has a great friendship with Lee O’Donnell and several other top monster truck drivers and jumped at the chance to finally strap into a 10,000 pound monster truck and take another major step in his motorsports career. After making a big impact driving Blue Thunder in his first year in the sport, LeDuc was selected at the start of 2012 to join the new team of “The General” Brian Deegan. LeDuc drives Metal Mulisha when the 13 time X-Games medalist is not behind the wheel of the new Metal Mulisha Monster Jam truck.

Q&A with Todd LeDuc

MonsterJam.com: How did you get started competing on the Monster Jam circuit?

Todd LeDuc:  I’ve always been a fan of it. The style, the jumping, and the technique that it takes to get around the track and make it look fun, make it look technical. I know a lot of the other drivers. George Balhan and Lee O’Donnell, they’ve come over from different motorsports and picked it right up and I’ve seen that a lot in off-road racing where guys will come over from motocross and pick up the off-road trucks very well. I’ve been telling Lee for years that I want to do this and I finally got the chance to do it.

MonsterJam.com: What do you enjoy doing while on the road with Monster Jam?

Todd LeDuc:  What the media likes about me in off-road is that I’m super personal. I like to be out talking with people. I work on my own stuff and people can relate to that. I’m also part of a family that races. My dad and my brother race with me. So people seem to like that aspect of it too. I love talking to people. I’m just that kind of a person in that I love to be interactive with people. With Monster Jam before I ever started I had gone to autograph signings with Lee and a few other guys and I was always thinking how much I’d like to do that. I knew it would be fun and cool to do. I just love giving back to people.

MonsterJam.com: What do you do with your free time?

Todd LeDuc:  I’m a person who loves to dabble in everything. I love to snowboard, I love to do mixed martial arts, I do motocross riding, I still compete in mountain bikes, I love off-road racing, I love jeeping, and of course now my new passion is Monster Jam.

MonsterJam.com: Do you have any pre-show rituals that you run though?

Todd LeDuc:  I’m not really superstitious because I believe that you make your own luck. As long as you get into a truck that’s well maintained, then it’s all about the driver making it look good. But I know if you hit a car wrong it will put you on your lid so you’ve got to be on your toes here and go out and wow the people.

MonsterJam.com: If you were not competing on the Monster Jam tour, what career path would you follow?

Todd LeDuc: I’m actually kind of an art fan. I love art. I love collecting art and looking at art so I’d probably be an art dealer, something like that, or maybe I’d be an ocean biologist, I love the ocean too.

MonsterJam.com: What’s your favorite food?

Todd LeDuc: Pizza

MonsterJam.com: What’s your favorite movie?

Todd LeDuc:  Catch Me If You Can

MonsterJam.com: What’s your favorite television show?

Todd LeDuc:  Mixed Martial Arts

MonsterJam.com: What’s your favorite color?

Todd LeDuc:  Black
