DRIVER HISTORY
|
As one of Advance Auto Monster Jam’s® newest stars, Dana Creech moved from a very successful career in ATV racing into monsters in 2010. Creech’s passion for motor sports has played a major role in his life and career. “I have grown up with motorsports my entire life. I started at three years old in my first race on my 60 cc three wheeler and it has not stopped since. I continued racing ATV’s until 2008 and still do occasionally for fun. I won multiple championships on my ATV and also won many freestyle competitions as well as performing at intermission at Monster Jam by myself. I have raced the Baja 500 and 1000 multiple times and finished 1st at both two times and a couple seconds. I had a lot of fun racing ATV’s and will always love riding them but I have always wanted to drive a monster truck and compete with all these awesome drivers, this is really the best job for me, I love it. THANK YOU EVERY ONE! I have raced side by sides for the past 5 years and really enjoy driving my RZR-S. I raced at some of the monster jams and I always bugged the monster truck guys to let me drive when we were at the shows and I guess it paid off, whatever it was, because now I am doing what I have always wanted to do. I ride dirt bikes most of the time, lately just for fun, and I ride a 250f on the track and a 450x for dual sport. I also just started riding trials bikes and really enjoy riding them all and learning new things every time I go out. I think the more I expand my skills in different motorsports the more they will help each other in the long run. I really enjoy just about anything with a motor.”
Q&A with Dana Creech MonsterJam.com: How did you get started competing on the Monster Jam circuit? Dana Creech: I started by riding my ATV in the pro quad racing series that followed the Monster Jam around and raced between the monster truck races. On occasion, I also did freestyle shows during intermission at Monster Jam shows. I had Sean Sermini as my manager at the time and he helped me negotiate to let me drive Grave Digger before one of the shows and in return I would do a freestyle run at the show for them. It was great. I was pumped that I finally was going to drive a monster truck. Well, after a few years of following up to drive a monster truck full time, I got a call to come out and do some testing with them. And about a year and a half later I got called to do the 2010 season. A dream come true to say the least. Thank you to everyone who helped me get to where I am I could not have done it without you.
MonsterJam.com: What do you enjoy doing while on the road with Monster Jam? Dana Creech: I enjoy coming to all of these great towns and meeting all these new people. It is really nice to go to some of the meet and greet displays we host or go to children’s hospitals. It feels really good when you can make someone feel better at such hard times. I also enjoy coming to the new venues and checking the course for my freestyle run, or how far I need to go into the turn to make the cars for racing. The Monster Jam family is a really good group and I really like spending my weekends with them.
MonsterJam.com: What do you do with your free time? Dana Creech: In my free time I am always getting into something interesting, I really like to ride my dirt bikes, snowboard, drive around in my RZR, or work in my skid steer on a track or jump section. I like to rip around in my car and race people, or even drift around town. I like to take my quad out riding on some natural terrain jumps or just cool step ups anything I can go bust a whip on and have some fun, I take my dog Moto out with me, he really likes to chase me on my mini bikes. I also enjoy riding my trials bike and trying to get up on some big rocks or stumps with it or playing follow the leader in the woods with a group of friends. I really am down with just about anything fun, you only live one life so make the best of it.
MonsterJam.com: What is your greatest memory as a monster truck driver? Dana Creech: Well, since I have not been doing this for very long I only have a few, but the thing that will sit with me forever is the first night of my first show. It was San Antonio, TX and it was a packed house. It also happened to be a televised event. I was the sixth truck for freestyle and I was sitting in my truck watching all the other trucks go and wow it was an awesome adrenaline rush. I had a flock of butterflies in my stomach while I sat there waiting my turn. It’s a crazy feeling not knowing how the truck was going to react to these jumps and I had never hit a car or van or anything yet. All these factors were running through my head making me wonder how I was going to do it based on what I have seen on TV or at the shows I have been to on my with ATV. I will never forget that feeling I had before I went out that first show, it was pretty cool.
MonsterJam.com: Do you have any pre-show rituals that you run though? Dana Creech: I do not have any pre show rituals yet other than making sure I go to the bathroom before I get strapped in for the night because there is not much time to get out and go. I like to walk the course and figure out my freestyle lines I can make and figure out some land marks that I will be able to see out my side windows for braking points because I cannot see very good out the front of my truck especially when I am doing a wheelie.
MonsterJam.com: If you were not competing on the Monster Jam tour, what career path would you follow?
Dana Creech: I want to start doing stunts for movies or commercials and I would like to race in the Lucas Oil Series in the pro 2 class.
MonsterJam.com: What’s your favorite food? Dana Creech: I like a good steak
MonsterJam.com: What’s your favorite movie? Dana Creech: The Punisher and I also like the Huevos series I used to watch them all the time and try to learn from them because we did not have that many pro ATV riders where I live to watch.
MonsterJam.com: What’s your favorite television show? Dana Creech: Dexter
MonsterJam.com: What’s your favorite color? Dana Creech: Flat black
